 The Collect \nO God\, forasmuch as without you\nwe are not able to please

  Matthew 22.1-14\n \nIsaiah 25.1-9\nO LORD\, you are my God\;\n    I will 
 exalt you\, I will praise your name\;\nfor you have done wonderful things\
 ,\n    plans formed of old\, faithful and sure.\nFor you have made the cit
 y a heap\,\n    the fortified city a ruin\;\nthe palace of aliens is a cit
 y no more\,\n    it will never be rebuilt.\nTherefore strong peoples will 
 glorify you\;\n    cities of ruthless nations will fear you.\nFor you have
  been a refuge to the poor\,\n    a refuge to the needy in their distress\
 ,\n    a shelter from the rainstorm and a shade from the heat.\nWhen the b
 last of the ruthless was like a winter rainstorm\,\n    the noise of alien
 s like heat in a dry place\,\nyou subdued the heat with the shade of cloud
 s\;\n    the song of the ruthless was stilled.\nOn this mountain the LORD 
 of hosts will make for all peoples\n    a feast of rich food\, a feast of 
 well-matured wines\,\n    of rich food filled with marrow\, of well-mature
 d wines strained clear.\nAnd he will destroy on this mountain\n    the shr
 oud that is cast over all peoples\,\n    the sheet that is spread over all

 d seen in me\, and the God of peace will be with you.\n\nMatthew 22.1-14\n
 Once more Jesus spoke to them in parables\, saying: ‘The kingdom of heav
 en may be compared to a king who gave a wedding banquet for his son. He se
 nt his slaves to call those who had been invited to the wedding banquet\, 
 but they would not come. Again he sent other slaves\, saying\, “Tell tho
 se who have been invited: Look\, I have prepared my dinner\, my oxen and m
 y fat calves have been slaughtered\, and everything is ready\; come to the
  wedding banquet.” But they made light of it and went away\, one to his 
 farm\, another to his business\, while the rest seized his slaves\, maltre
 ated them\, and killed them. The king was enraged. He sent his troops\, de
 stroyed those murderers\, and burned their city. Then he said to his slave
 s\, “The wedding is ready\, but those invited were not worthy. Go theref
 ore into the main streets\, and invite everyone you find to the wedding ba
 nquet.” Those slaves went out into the streets and gathered all whom the
 y found\, both good and bad\; so the wedding hall was filled with guests.\
 n‘But when the king came in to see the guests\, he noticed a man there w
 ho was not wearing a wedding robe\, and he said to him\, “Friend\, how d
 id you get in here without a wedding robe?” And he was speechless. Then 
 the king said to the attendants\, “Bind him hand and foot\, and throw hi
 m into the outer darkness\, where there will be weeping and gnashing of te
 eth.” For many are called\, but few are chosen.’\n\nWe pray for all wh
