 y Church in order for them to continue the ministry of Jesus. It is our tr
 adition to encourage as many as possible to wear red on that day – the l
 iturgical colour\, representing the red flames of Pentecostal fire!\n\nIt 
 is also the commemoration in the Church of England calendar of the convers
 ion of John Wesley (24th May 1738) and of his brother Charles who wrote al
 l of the hymns we will be singing at the 9.30am Parish Eucharist. \n\nJohn
  Wesley was not the founder of the Methodist Church (as if often mistakenl
 y claimed). Along with his brother Charles and George Whitfield they becam
 e the leaders of a renewal movement within the Church of England nicknamed
  ‘Methodism’. It was only after their death that many of their convert
 s left the Church of England to form a new denomination - The Methodist Ch
 urch.
