DESCRIPTION:The Manx Bible (Yn Vible Casherick) was published over 250 yea
rs ago. Parish clergy shared the task of translation. \n\nIn a spirit of
pilgrimage\, join us on Saturday 4 July as we journey on foot to visit th
eir parishes to hear parts of the Scriptures which were translated there
 – in English and Manx. We start at 10am at St Matthews and aim to finish
around 4.30 pm at St Johns\, walking along the level Heritage Trail. It's
8 miles in all\, but join and leave wherever you wish – no need to book
! Bring drinks and a bite to eat if you'll be with us at lunchtime. \n\nA
t 4 pm all are welcome to join us at St Johns Methodist chapel where the B
ible Society's new bilingual edition of the Gospel of Luke will be launche
 d. Free copies of this\, and of a bilingual leaflet about the translators\
, will be available for distribution. \n\nA Manx woman\, on first hearing
her son reading the Bible in her own tongue\, cried “Choud shoh ta shin
er hoie ayns dorraghys!” (“Till now we have sat in darkness”). Our t
heme running through the day is the celebration of their work and the ligh
