Although lockdown restrictions as they apply to places of worship have been eased, churchwardens and PCCs are still required to comply with very strict rules. These apply both prior to the initial opening following the complete lockdown period, during the limited days and hours of actual opening and then following these hours to ensure complete cleaning and re-sanitisation.
Compliance with all this is not easy at the best of times. Here at Beckingham, it is particularly difficult because of all the rebuilding work that is still outstanding. It may appear from the outside that there is not much more to be done. Very soon, however, work will start internally and this is planned to go on for five days per week for several weeks. In this situation it will not be possible to have our church open as may be the case at other churches in the Benefice and at the same time ensure compliance with the continuing lockdown regulations; this will be the case until the vast majority of this important project is complete.
Until further notice, therefore, we are in the unfortunate situation that our parish church will not be available for any form of public or private worship.
The church of St. Peter and St. Paul at Gringley on the Hill will be open each Sunday between the hours of 11.00 am and 4.00 pm for private individual prayer – subject to the observance of the continuing Corona Virus precautions.
