 ck through many generations. Lessons and Carols began with Bishop Edward W
 hite Benson in 1880 in Truro\, England\, as a way to create a service for 
 all the family. The service's modern\, globally recognised format was esta
 blished in 1918 by Eric Milner-White at King's College\, Cambridge\, to pr
 ovide a spiritual and uplifting service to the community following the Fir
 st World War. The service has since been adapted by many churches and is n
 ow a popular worldwide tradition.
