Church of England Diocese of Leeds Ravensthorpe and Thornhill Lees with Savile Town

Technicalities, technicalities

1 May 2021, 12:30 a.m.

We are revising our electoral roll in the period 2nd -16th May to ensure it contains the correct and current details of our congregation. Membership on the Roll entitles you to elect church officers - such as the Wardens and Parochial Church Council (PCC) members. Kathleen Thornton looks after the Roll - 07813883657. Please contact her if you wish to know more details or consider coming onto the Roll.

Our Annual Meeting is on Sunday 30th May, following the 10 a.m. service. To keep Covid-safe, we will stay seated in the pews we have used for the service. This is the time we appoint / reappoint people to serve in various posts in the St Saviour's community of the church. We also hear reports from the Wardens, Safeguarding Officer, PCC Secretary, and priest in charge, and receive an update on our finances from the Treasurer. It is our opportunity to ask questions and reflect on our life together under Christ.

The Archdeacon of Halifax is conducting a Visitation (online) on 4th May, looking at our stewardship of the church building and fittings, and questioning us on our strategies for mission and growth. She will also be checking that our safeguarding provisions are robust, and our finances and accounting sound.

All of this might sound like conforming with dry, technical legalities but it is to ensure our life together is well-regulated and transparent, and underpins our life of service to the communities of Ravensthorpe and Thornhill Lees with Savile Town.
