ult to keep in mind\, during the hustle and\nbustle and stress of December
 \, that Advent is\nintended to be a season of fasting\, and reflection\non
all the evil in the world.\n\nA time to cry out for God to make things ri
ght and\nto put death’s dark shadows to flight.\nA time to look at our o
wn lives and where we have\n\ngone wrong.\n\nA time of contemplation on ou
r need for God’s\n\ngrace and healing touch.\nO come Thou Day-Spring\nCo
me and cheer\nOur spirits by thy Advent here\nDisperse the gloomy clouds o
f night\nAnd death’s dark shadows put to flight\nRejoice! Rejoice! Emman
 uel\nShall come to thee\, O Israel.\nWhat is a Christingle Service?\n…..
A joyful celebration that brings families and\ncommunities together to sha
re the light of Jesus and\n\nspread a message of hope.\n\nThe first Christ
ingle service in the UK took place 55\nyears ago in Lincoln Cathedral but
the origins go back\nto the Moravian Church in Germany.\nAt a children’s
service in 1747\, Bishop Johannes de\nWatteville looked for a simple way
to explain the\nhappiness that had come to people through Jesus and\nhe cr
eated the symbol of the Christingle.\nEach element has a special meaning a
nd helps tell the\n\nChristian story.-\nThe orange represents the world.\n
The red ribbon is the love and blood of Christ.\nThe dried fruit and sweet
s represent God’s creation.\nAnd the lit candle is the light of Jesus\,
bringing hope\n\nto people living in darkness.\n\nAdvent and Christmas can
be difficult for people. If\nyou feel a chat with Revd Claire would help\
 , please\n\nring her on 07921 101320.
