  is very welcome to The Rectory on Tuesday\nevening for the Lent Group dis
 cussing\nThe joy of the gospel.\n\nA short meditation and prayer for the\n
 third Sunday in Lent\nForty days alone\,\na wilderness of thoughts\,\ntemp
 ting and inviting thoughts\,\nwhich could so easily have distracted you\nf
 rom your task\, your mission\,\nyour vision.\n\nYet you emerged\, stronger
  and more attuned\nto all that had to be done\,\ndespite a time constraint
 \nthat to our eyes would have seemed hopeless.\nWe too live in stressful t
 imes.\nDemands are made of our time\,\nthat leave so little\nfor the impor
 tant things of life.\nWe are easily distracted\nin the wilderness of our l
 ives\,\nby every call to go this way or that\,\nto turn stone to bread\nle
 ap from mountains\,\n\nand do all that would keep us from the truth.\nWe l
 isten to the voices of this world\,\nand ignore the one who endured all th
 is\nand so much more\,\nand emerged triumphant\,\nthat we might not have t
 o suffer so.\nForgive us\, Father\,\nwhen we get distracted from our task.
 \nForgive us those times when we try\nto be all things to all men\,\nand f
 ail to be anything to anyone.\nA prayer for the week ahead\nHeavenly Fathe
 r\,\n\nas I enter another week of my Lenten journey\,\nguide me to the pat
 h that leads to you.\nFill my heart with gratitude\, patience\,\nstrength 
 and peace\nas I strive to become\nthe-best-version-of-myself\,\nhonestly a
