e send love and congratulations to Andrew\nand Kate getting married in Whi
te Ladies Aston\n\non this Saturday.\n\nAndrew was born in the village\, l
oves the village and\nits life and now begins\, with Kate\, the next stage
of\nlife’s journey\, as a married couple.\nMay their married life be bl
essed with happiness\nand good health in all the years to come.\nThis Sund
ay\, Whit Sunday\, we commemorate the\ncoming of The Holy Spirit to the di
sciples - so often\npictured as tongues of fire or a dove. What a great\nd
ay to get together as a Benefice to celebrate with a\nBenefice Service of
Holy Communion in St Kenelm’s\n\nUpton Snodsbury.\n\nWhat joy music of a
ll kinds brings …….\n“Music does a lot of things for a lot of people
. It’s\ntransporting\, for sure. It can take you right back\, years\nbac
k\, to the very moment certain things happened in\nyour life. It’s uplif
 ting\, it’s encouraging\, it’s\nstrengthening.” (Aretha Franklin)\nY
ou may think it strange but Worcester Cathedral\nquite often hosts ‘pop
concerts’ – They have quite\nrecently held a Elvis concert and last we
ek an ABBA\ntribute band took to the ‘stage’!\nThe concert was very we
ll supported with 800 or so\npeople enjoying the uplifting music that brin
gs release\nand joy in the most wonderful sacred and ancient\nsurroundings
. It was the first time many of the\naudience had set foot over the thresh
 old\, after all\nchurch is not for them – it is unapproachable\, formal\
nand the words impenetrable……..\nCanon Stephen Edwards the Cathedral
’s Acting Dean\,\nwelcomed the assembled crowd amid a cacophony of\nexci
ted chatter\, and explained how the cathedral had\nhosted music for centur
ies\, and that as well as music\,\nthe cathedral was a place of prayer –
and so the\nconcert would begin in prayer.\nHis prayer was based on ABBA
songs and at the end\nwas met with loud and very enthusiastic applause –
\nthe church in action reaching out and meeting\neveryone through music. H
ere is his prayer. How\nmany ABBA songs do you recognise?.....\nGod of lov
e in whose presence every hour\,\nevery minute seems to last eternally\,\n
the one whose shoulder we can cry on\,\nour best friend\, the one we must
rely on:\nthere is something in the air tonight\,\nthe stars are bright\,\
nwith people everywhere\;\na sense of expectation hanging in the air.\nWe
thank you for the music\, the songs we’re\n\nsinging\,\n\nthanks for all
the joy they&#39\;re bringing.\nWe believe in angels\,\nsomething good in
  everything I see.\nAnd believing in angels\, I have a dream\, a song to\n
\nsing.\nBless us this night O Lord\,\ntake us in your arms and hold us ti
ght.\nI know it&#39\;s gonna mean so much tonight.\n\nAnd dear God\,\nbeca
use of the love you gave me\,\nnothing else can save me\,\nso lay all your
love on me.\nNow and for ever. Amen.\n…….Apparently ‘Elton John’
is coming next…..\nWe can’t always choose the music life plays for us
…..\nBut we can choose how we dance to it.
