…..\n\nThe 3 rd Sunday of Advent celebrates joy.  What the\nweary long
for\, what children often exude\, what\nmakes us all smile. Joy. It cann
ot be paid for but is a\npriceless treasure. We pray for joy as we wait f
or the\n\nbirth of the Son of God.\n\nThis time of year can be difficult\,
lonely and painful. If\nyou feel you need just to talk or you know of som
eone\nwho would benefit from a bit of tender loving care\,\nplease do cont
act Revd Claire on 07921 101320.\n\nA thank you from Claire\n\nThe weather
was on our side for the Nativity at the\nCrown last Friday evening.  A r
eal village production\,\nthank you to all who were involved in making the
 \nevening a success.  The tradition continues….!!\n\nOther stuff\n\nAno
ther week of distressing news\, pain and\ndevastation around our incredibl
e world.\nI am sure this week we have all been appalled at the\nincomprehe
nsible cruelty shown to a beautiful and\n\ninnocent young girl.\nWe seek f
or hope and reassurance.\nThis Sunday in Advent we remember the ministry o
 f\nJohn the Baptist – Christ’s for-runner. He came to\nprepare the way
for Jesus’ life and ministry of hope\n\nand love.\n\nJohn is revered bo
th in Christianity and also in Islam.\nBy tradition\, his head was placed
in the Basilica of St\nJohn in Damascus which later became the Umayyad\nMo
sque where there is a huge shrine to his memory\nat which Moslems venerate
  him constantly.\nIn the Apocrypha\, in a few Syriac manuscripts\, can be\
nfound the first prayer of John the Baptist to his\n\ndisciples:\n\nHoly
Father\, consecrate me through your strength\nand make known the glory of
your excellence and\nshow me your son and fill me with your spirit which\n
has received light through your knowledge.\nOr put more simply – could t
his be a prayer for us all?\nFather\, show me your son. Son\, show me your
spirit.\nHoly Spirit grant me wisdom through your strength.\nThoughts and
Prayers for this week\nGracious God\, may this last week of Advent be a t
ime\nof turning our faces towards the light\, and a space to\n\npause\, to
reflect and to watch.\nMay we learn to wait in the present and not for th
e\nfuture\, that every moment may be lived in the\npresence of the Christ
Child\, the Lamb of Calvary\, the\nSaviour of the World and to your glory.
Amen.\nFor children and families preparing for the Season of\nChristmas a
s our schools wind down for the holidays.\nMay the true message of the bab
e in the manger be at\nthe heart of the next few weeks.\nHelp us to be ope
n to the needs of friends and\nneighbours who find the Christmas Season po
ignant\nand difficult. Make us sensitive and able to offer the\n\nhelp and
support needed.\n\nFor all war-torn areas of the world\, for migrants\,\n
refugees and those without hope.\nMay justice\, common sense and love prev
ail in the\nhearts and minds of leaders across the globe.\nFor the world
’s problems and seemingly unsolvable\npolitical situations as the year d
 raws to its close.
