 y on 9 April.\n\nLent is a time of preparation\, waiting and penitence\nan
 d the five weeks of Lent leading up to Holy Week\nmake for an appropriate 
 time to reflect upon our own\nlives - our struggles\, our goals\, our pray
 ers - in light of\nChrist’s life\, death and resurrection. We continue t
 o\nfollow Stuart Townend through our Lenten journey.\nThe third week’s t
 heme is God speaks\, God calls us\n\nand God is with us\n\nThe reading for
  this week is Luke 1: 26-38 (the angel\n\nGabriel’s message to Mary)\n\n
 Next Wednesday 25th is the official calendar day for\nthe Annunciation\, s
 o this Sunday is a great time to\nconsider this incredible moment in the B
 ible.\nMary\, an unmarried teenager\, is visited by an angel\nand told tha
 t she will carry God himself inside her and\n\ndeliver him into the world.
 \nThis has to be the most dramatic and shocking\nmessage anyone has ever r
 eceived!\nThere are three things we can consider from this\n\nstory.\nFirs
 tly\, God speaks:\nBefore He arrived in flesh\, He spoke to Mary and\ncall
 ed her to a very specific mission. Are we expectant\nthat God will speak t
 o us? Do we give enough time to\nthe practice of listening to His voice? W
 hen we read\nthe Bible\, are we doing it passively or are we doing it\npra
 yerfully\, understanding that God’s word is indeed\n\nhis word?\nSecondl
 y\, God calls us.\nMary literally carried Jesus in her womb for a time.\nH
 er reaction was one of amazing faith\, humility and\ntrust. As Christians 
 we also have Christ dwelling inside\nof us\; what is our response to this?
  Are we excited\nenough by this miracle? Do we have the same faith\nand tr
 ust that Mary did to go forth and live a life that\nexplores the magnitude
  of the fact that God Himself\nlives in us and speaks and acts through us?
 \nThirdly\, God is with us.\nWhen he calls us to something specific\, in w
 hatever\nsense that might be\, he does so with the firm and\nunfailing pro
 mise that he is with us always.\nWe should live\, therefore\, with an atti
 tude of trust\,\n\nexpectancy and excitement.\n\n…………….things fo
 r us all to think about and take on\nboard as we continue towards the Glor
 y of Easter Day.\n\nA prayer\n\nGod\, thank you that the life of worship a
 nd service\nyou call us to is so much greater and fulfilling than any\nlif
 eplan we devise for ourselves. We ask you to fill us\nwith a spiritual pea
 ce and confidence to trust in your\ncalling upon us. Help us to be more di
 ligent listeners\,\nseeking your voice daily and in every area of our live
 s.\nThank you for the ultimate assurance that wherever\nwe tread\, whateve
 r we do\, and however faithful or\nnot we have been in the past\, your lov
 e and might will\n\nbe with us always. Amen.
