386:76p for the urgent work that Christian Aid\nundertakes around the worl
 d with the world’s most\n\ndeprived peoples.\n\nSombre thoughts after th
e world news of the last\n\nfew days\n\nEvery week it seems things are get
 ting worse around\nour big\, beautiful planet. Israel\, Gaza\, Iran\, Ukra
 ine\,\nMyanma……the list is seemingly endless and\n\nincreasing daily.\
n\nWe can do very little except hope and pray\; give\nfinancially when ask
ed and when we feel it is a cause\nwe wish to support\; do our best for th
ose around us\;\ncherish our freedoms and treasure and use to\nthe best of
our abilities the hand we have been dealt\nin life and enjoy to the full
the life we have the\n\nprivilege of living.\n\nThis poem perhaps helps to
express the hope and\n\ncore of our existence.\n\nThe author\, Joy Cowley
is a New Zealander of nearly\n90 who has sold over 40 million books world
-wide and\nis best known for her children’s books which can be\nfound in
English\, Maori and two dozen other\n\nlanguages.\n\nPart of a Meditation
by Joy Cowley\nYou big\, bright beautiful God\,\nThis is my day for flyin
g!\nI reach out to the bigness of you.\nI touch the brightness of you\nand
I feel the beauty of you\nin the centre of my living.\nAnd if tomorrow I
am grounded\nby a weight of anxieties\,\n\nif my feet are heavy and there
are clouds between me\n\nand the sun\,\n\nthen let me keep hold of the war
m place in my heart\nreminding me that today I flew\nand was kissed by God
.\n\nBut when it all gets too much – when the toll of the\nhuman cost of
loss of life and suffering in the world\nbecomes unbearable. What to pray
for\, what to think\,\n\nwhere to go?\nGod\,\n\nI do not know which way t
o go.\nI do not know what to think or feel.\nI feel powerless to choose be
tween the options\n\nbefore me.\n\nGod\, give me the wisdom to see the way
ahead.\nAnd the boldness to walk in it. Amen.
