hear\nabout and take part in the discussions concerning the\nfuture for th
is lovely old church\, at the very heart of\n\nthe village.\n\nSt Leonard
’s has been loved by congregations and\nvillagers alike for many generat
ions. It has witnessed\nthe joys and sorrows of family life and community
and\nnational events since the 14 th century. Its walls are\nsuffused with
village history\, and the laughter and\ntears of countless people over th
e centuries.\nIt needs your help now if it is to be saved to grace the\nvi
llage and be there for village residents in the future.\nImagine what it m
ight be with the church gone from\n\nthe village’s heart and soul.\nPlea
se do come to St Leonard’s at 4.00pm this\nSaturday 23 September to list
 en\, speak\, commit and\n\nvolunteer help.\n\nThe end of September is in s
ight and Autumn draws\nnear. Our thoughts turn to the countryside around u
s.\nThe harvests of the hedgerow with the abundant\nsupply of blackberries
\; the fields shorn of their crops\nwaiting to be to be ploughed up ready
for the spring\nplanting\; trees groaning under the weight of apples\nand
pears\; conkers falling\; the first signs of leaves\nchanging colour and t
he nights drawing in…….\n\nWe bless you\,\nGod of Seed and Harvest\nAn
d we bless each other\nThat the beauty of this world\nAnd the love that cr
eated it\nMight be expressed though our lives\nAnd be a blessing to others
\nNow and always. Amen.\n\nThere are so many around the world who never\ne
xperience the joy of a bountiful harvest and through\nour congregations\,
money is raised both for those\noverseas and also for people in need here
at home.\nThe Food banks desperately need our continuing\nsupport to help
local families to feed themselves\n\nduring these tough times.\n\nItems ca
n be left in church\, at The Pantry in Peopleton\nand in all the local sup
ermarkets.\nLord Christ\,\n\nwe are strangers and pilgrims on the earth\,\
ndisconcerted by the world’s violence and sorrow:\nWherever we are on th
is day’s journey\nbreathe on us your gentle Spirit\nthat we may be oases
of quiet and refreshment\nbringing to your uneasy world\nreconciliation a
nd peace. Amen.\n(Common Order\, Church of Scotland)
