  I have cried to thee O Lord:\n\nLord hear my voice.\nThe conflict in the 
 Middle East is beyond\ncomprehension in its brutality and hatred.\nRevd Sa
 rah Dangerfield hopes that what follows –\nprayers and meditations provi
 ded by Christian Aid and\nEmbrace the Middle East may help and direct us i
 n our\n\nthoughts and prayers.\nAs you light a candle:\nIn the name of Chr
 ist\, who is our peace\,\nwe light this light for peace in Israel\, peace 
 in Gaza\, peace in\nthe West Bank\, and peace across the Middle East.\nO G
 od of all justice and peace\, we cry out to you in\nthe midst of the pain 
 and trauma of violence and fear\nwhich prevails in the Middle East.\nBe wi
 th those who need you in these days of\nsuffering\; we pray for people of 
 all faiths - Jews\,\nMuslims and Christians and for all people of the land
 .\nWhile we pray to you\, O Lord\, for an end to violence\nand the establi
 shment of peace\, we also call for you to\nbring justice and equity to the
  peoples.\nGuide us into your kingdom\, where all people are\ntreated with
  dignity and honour as your children\, for\nto all of us you are our Heave

 o accept others’ nationalities and not be racist.\nTo look for the good 
 in other people and not find fault\n\nin others\;\n\nNot to use religion a
 s a weapon but to use it as a\n\nsupport and actual faith.\n\nAnd finally\
 , not to hate but forgive and love. Amen.
