DESCRIPTION:This service is a real experience of passing from darkness to 
 light\, offering hope to all.\n\nFrom earliest times Christians have gathe
 red through the night of Easter to recall the story of God’s saving work
 \, from the creation of the world through to the death and resurrection of
  our Lord Jesus Christ.   The Easter Vigil marks the end of the emptiness 
 of Holy Saturday\, and leads us into the celebration of Christ’s resurre
 ction.  \n\nThe congregation moves outside for the lighting of the Easter 
 fire\, from which the Easter candle is lit.  A joyful procession returns i
 nto the now brightly lit church\; the Exsultet - an ancient hymn of triump
 h and rejoicing - is sung\;  the Easter Gospel is proclaimed with  joy and
  splendour\; and the First Mass of Easter is celebrated with music\, flowe
 rs\, bells\, colours and many shouts of "Alleluia! Christ is risen!"
