Church of England Diocese of Worcester Astley

Suspension of Church Services

7 Jan 2021, 2:30 p.m.

Here at St.Bartholomew’s, Areley Kings and St.Peter’s, Astley we have decided to suspend worship for the foreseeable future. We will continue to make available worship on Facebook and You Tube as we have since last March.

The country is in National Lockdown and we are told to ‘Stay at home’, ‘Protect the NHS’, ‘Save lives’. We are all aware that there is a new strain of Covid 19 that is much more transmissible. Many shops and businesses have had to close and one should not go out apart from essential shopping, exercise and only go to work if you cannot work from home.

In the midst of all this the churches have been told that they do not have to close. However many are in order to keep people safe and prevent the spread of the virus. Many in our communities will be put under extreme hardship by the Lockdown, we need to show solidarity with them, we can still pray for them and do whatever we can to support them. We will for example still be collecting for the Food Bank.

The work of the church continues in solidarity with the people of our parishes at this most difficult time for us all. We can continue to worship God in our homes and in our hearts and follow the ways of Jesus in our daily lives.
