On behalf of David Copp and myself as Churchwardens, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who rallied to the call on Thursday and Friday last week to help with our annual churchyard raking day.
A tremendous turnout of 19 souls on day one and 17 on day two meant that we cut/raked and carted a good 95% of the area of the churchyard (nearly two acres in total). The remaining areas are being left uncut at present to encourage wildlife. Suffice to say the churchyard now looks resplendent once again.
Achieving so much would not have been possible without the assistance of Conca Goyder and Bob Brown with their tractors, both large and not so large, with their attachments and trailer, and of course Russell with his trusty strimmer.
The task was made all the more pleasant by the provision of lunch by Angela Chandler on day one and Ann Mayhew and Christine Davies on day two. Thank you so much ladies.
'Never has so much been achieved by so many in such a short time' - now where have I heard a similar statement before?
