Students

'Hes Church' is located between the West and East Campus of the University of York - the closest church to the Univeristy. 

We're a small, close student community based in a local parish church so it gives you a chance to meet non-students and can be a bit like home. Our congregation is an eclectic mix of ages, backgrounds and nationalities. This makes Hes a very special church to be part of: local residents and students from all over the world and different traditions come together to worship and explore our faith.

Over the past year we’ve had 3 student led services, a family fun day for children and parents in our parish, a games evening, a beetle drive and a bring and share lunch for everyone in the congregation.

You’ll also usually find a group of students (plus one or two others, including clergy) enjoying some food in the pub near the church after the Sunday morning service.

We’ve found Hes to be a very diverse, friendly and welcoming place, and hope you do too!

The Chaplaincy run a Night Prayer live-stream on Facebook, Saturday to Thursday at 9 pm, and Morning Prayer at 9.30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Also there is Morning Prayer on Sundays at 10 am. More details of all of these are on the Chaplaincy Facebook page
