My name is Toby Gibbons. I am originally from Salisbury in Wiltshire and am married to Ruthi, who is also a vicar in York. We currently live in Dringhouses with our Lurcher Maggie.
I trained for ministry at Cranmer Hall in Durham and before that I studied History and then Theology at Reading and Exeter Universities. I’ve spent time working as a Sous Chef and a Librarian.
I have a real passion for social justice and love Liberation, Feminist and Queer theologies. For me the Gospel is fundamentally about freedom for all of God’s people through the work of Jesus Christ. I enjoy walking alongside people in their journey of faith, no matter how far along that journey they are.
I have a real passion for loud music, especially heavy metal and punk rock, though also appreciate more quieter styles from time to time and I play guitar and bass. I love cooking, the spicier the better. I’m a vegetarian and love Mexican food. I enjoying playing video games, Star Wars and support Reading FC.
