One way to prepare ourselves is to set some time aside to spend with God, reading, thinking and praying. We are all different, and our Diocese has made available an extensive range of resources - these include art and poetry; short stories; podcasts, as well as the Church of England's Everyday Faith app, which has reflections centred around the hymn O Come, O Come Emmanuel. So there should be something to choose that would be helpful to you.
