DESCRIPTION:William Hill was an innovative organ builder who\, during the 
 19th century\, took the building traditions of the greatest German organ b
 uilders of the 17th and 18th centuries\, and combined them with the indust
 rial innovations of the period. He built organs all over the world from Yo
 rk Minster to Sydney\, Middlesbrough and Birmingham town hall\, and everyw
 here his work has been celebrated by the greatest musicians of the time.\n
 Our organ at St. Stephen’s is an early example of Hill’s work and it h
 as been noticed by Hannes Ludwig who runs a group in Germany call ‘Hill
 ’s Angels’ whose aim is to draw attention to these organ masterpieces 
 to help ensure their continued use and good service.\n \nHannes is touring
  with his choir in July and we are so very lucky at St. Stephen’s to hav
 e been chosen as one of their venues.\n \nThe choir of 25 is called Kantor
 ei Prenzlau and their programme will include pieces for choir and organ by
  Bach\, Vivaldi\, Saint-Saens\, Mendelssohn and Elgar\, and as an added at
 traction\, Hannes will also play Bach’s famous Toccata and Fugue d minor
  for organ solo.\nThey will also be supported by ‘cellist Johann Fridric
 h Suhr Cellist and another organist Wilgard Suhr who will join Hannes in p
 ieces for organ duet (4hands).
