DESCRIPTION:Ash Wednesday marks the first day of Lent and it will take pla
 ce this year on Wednesday 14th February 2024 at 10am. This service will re
 place our usual Wednesday Morning one.\n\n Ash Wednesday is a time for dee
 p reflection and penitence. It is a time for watching and praying just as 
 Jesus asked his disciples to do before he was crucified.\n\nDuring the ser
 vice Of Ash Wednesday a cross of ashes and oil (made from last year's palm
  crosses) is placed on our foreheads in the sign of a cross. This is a sym
 bol reminding us of our own mortality. The minister reminds us this when p
 lacing the cross on our foreheads he says "Remember you are dust and to du
 st you shall return"\n\nAnyone who attends this service can receive ashes\
 , not only practicing Christians.
