From Friday 24th to Monday 27th September 2021, exhibits of art and creative craftwork will be on display at the church. The exhibition will begin with a private viewing on Friday evening from 17:00 followed by a lecture by Emma Roodhouse. Emma is the Art Curator at Ipswich and Colchester Museums. Her lecture on Friday evening will cover Constable's early years: the build up to his painting the Hay Wain, his associates and fellow artists in Suffolk who contributed to his career. Emma is currently writing a book on Constable’s early years in Suffolk. Tickets for this talk will be £15* to include a glass of wine and canapes.
On Sunday evening at 18:00 there will be a bell ringing demonstration of our unique bells that are housed in a ground level cage. This will be followed by a talk from Simon Gallup who is a respected local Blue Badge guide and speaker at WI and U3A groups. His talk will take a local history perspective, featuring Flatford and East Bergholt, including the church and bell cage. Tickets for this will cost £10* and include refreshments.
*There is a discounted price of £20 to attend both events
Public viewing times on other days are as follows: Saturday 10:00-17:00; Sunday 11.30-17:00; Monday 10:00-14:00.
