DESCRIPTION:A visiting band of ringers (all in Suffolk) are attempting to
ring a full peal on Sproughton's 6 bells. Richard Munnings has organised t
his attempt in memory of his Father\, Alan Munnings\, who passed away back
in September 2020 and as today would have been his 80th birthday\, it see
ms a very appropriate tribute. Alan was a staunch member of the Sproughton
band for many years. A full peal consists of ringing over 5\,000 unique c
hanges without error and this feat\, which commences around 10:30am\, will
take about 2 hours and 45 mins to complete. The peal will start with the
bells ringing in 'rounds' (the bells ringing in sequence from the Treble (
lightest) to the Tenor bell (the heaviest) and then\, will start ringing m
ethods (similar to a pattern or map which the ringers commit to memory) re
sulting in the order that the bells ring in changing every time the bell r
ings\, until the bells have been rung in over 5\,000 unique permutations a
nd Conductor calls the bells to return to ringing in rounds.\nThe band are
very experienced bellringers and if you listen out for the bells ringing\
, you should hear them being 'well struck'. All bellringers aim to continu
ally improve their striking (where they try to ensure the space between ea
 ch bell ringing is equal).
