DESCRIPTION:On Maundy Thursday (17th April – 7.00pm) we are holding a Be
 nefice Agape Supper at Holy Trinity\, Stowupland.\nAn Agape Meal\, or “L
 ove Feast” as it is also called\, is an ancient tradition of table\nfell
 owship. The practice of holy hospitality precedes the Church\, going back 
 to the hospitality Abraham showed to his three unknown visitors (Genesis 1
 8). In the early Church\, agape meals were a time of fellowship for “Peo
 ple of the Way\,” as the early Christians were called. Communion was usu
 ally part of these meals so they also celebrated the sacrificial love of J
 esus.  \n\nOn the night before he died\, Jesus had supper with his friends
 . It was at this meal that he blessed the bread and the wine\, he gave it 
 to his disciples and told them to take this in remembrance of Him.\nAt the
  Agape supper we will be having a simple supper of soup\, bread and cheese
  with friends and as part of this we will also bless the bread and the win
 e and share it among those gathered as a remembrance of that Last Supper s
 o long ago but is the basis for our Christian faith today – The Eucharis
 t or Communion\nEveryone is welcome to come to the Agape Supper and afterw
 ards join us in the church as we strip the altar in readiness for Good Fri
 day.
