DESCRIPTION:On Maundy Thursday (2nd April – 7.00pm) we are holding a Ben
 efice Agape Supper at Holy Trinity\, Stowupland.\nAn Agape Meal\, or “Lo
 ve Feast” as it is also called\, is an ancient tradition of table\nfello
 wship. The practice of holy hospitality precedes the Church\, going back t
 o the hospitality Abraham showed to his three unknown visitors (Genesis 18
 ). In the early Church\, agape meals were a time of fellowship for “Peop
 le of the Way\,” as the early Christians were called. Communion was usua
 lly part of these meals so they also celebrated the sacrificial love of Je
 sus.  \n\nOn the night before he died\, Jesus had supper with his friends.
  It was at this meal that he blessed the bread and the wine\, he gave it t
 o his disciples and told them to take this in remembrance of Him.\nAt the 
 Agape supper we will be having a simple supper of soup\, bread and cheese 
 with friends and as part of this we will also bless the bread and the wine
  and share it among those gathered as a remembrance of that Last Supper so
  long ago but is the basis for our Christian faith today – The Eucharist
  or Communion\nEveryone is welcome to come to the Agape Supper and afterwa
 rds join us in the church as we strip the altar in readiness for Good Frid
