Rector - The Rev'd Christopher Griffiths
With a background in Christian Aid (youth work & volunteering) and a member of the Church Commissioners' staff before ordination, Christopher trained for the ministry at Westcott House Cambridge. He was ordained at Southwark Cathedral in June 2013 and served as Assistant Curate in the Wimbledon Team Ministry. He was installed as Rector of this benefice in July 2016.
His particular interests in ministry are liberation theology and good pastoral care.
Christopher also serves as Assistant Rural Dean of Thingoe, keyholder of St Mary's Ickworth, and on the Diocesan Synod and the Diocesan Board of Education.
Hon. Associate Priest - The Rev'd Ian White
Prior to ordination, Ian was a teacher for a number of years. He trained for the ministry at Ripon College Cuddesdon and was ordained in Canterbury Cathedral in 1986, serving his title at St Martin, Maidstone. After various rural incumbent posts Ian retired on medical grounds and is now a valued member of the benefice team.
Reader - Mr Craig Young
Craig moved from Scotland where he was an ordained elder in the Church of Scotland to Bury St Edmunds in 1989. He served on the PCC at St Mary’s with St Peter's, Bury St Edmunds and as Churchwarden. He trained on the Diocesan Ministry Course in Cohort “A” and in 1999 was licensed Reader in the diocese. Whilst based at St Mary’s with St Peter’s he served in many other churches and benefices in the area as their need arose. From 1996 to 2002 he was also involved with Cursillo in the diocese where he served a term as Lay Director. Having helped at St Leonard's Horringer during the most recent interregnum, Craig transferred his license to this benefice in March 2017 and we value having him preach and officiate regularly.
His interests in ministry are to encourage others in their faith, to work at being a Christian and to serve as long as he can.
