A Letter from the Churchwarden

The Churchwarden writes on COVID 19

Since the announcement of the latest ‘lockdown’ and the rapidly rising number of infection rates in Cornwall, the PCC have sadly decided that in view of our responsibilities to all who enter Saint Paul’s to suspend all worship except funerals. We are also keeping the number of people who enter the church to the minimum so that the chances of the virus spreading via human contact are as low as possible.

Although the church as a building is closed and we are not able to meet together as a worshipping community the life of Saint Paul’s through prayer, reading of the Bible, and caring for one another carries on.

In the words of the beautiful evening hymn, ‘The day thou gavest’ ,

‘the voice of prayer is never silent,
nor do the praises die away.’

It has also been decided that, with the current advice, that we should avoid as much contact with one another as possible. Therefore, we are unable to produce online services at this time. There are other services broadcast and streamed that are readily available.

Amongst these we would draw to your attention to the following:

Monday to Friday 9.45 am Daily Service BBC Radio 4 LW/198 LW

Wednesdays 3.30 pm Evensong BBC Radio 3

Repeated Sunday 3.00 pm Evensong BBC Radio 3

We pray that all will be kept safe and that it will soon be possible for us to meet together again to ‘Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness’.
