We read out the names on the memorial and placed a stone for each fallen soldier. We heard about the significance of the last post and heard an extract from ’Where the Poppies Now Grow’ by Hilary Robinson, a beautiful children’s book explaining war and friendship.

The Act of Remembrance Service on Sunday afternoon at North Petherwin War Memorial was led by Reverends Alison Hardy and Nicki Farr.
The service was well attended and wreaths were laid by:
The Parish Council Chairman, Neil Holding
Toni Martin MBE (Lieutenant Colonel retired)
Chris Marshall (Lieutenant Colonel retired)
In addition a wooden cross and more pebbles were added by children during the service and throughout the day.
Weather permitting we hope the wreaths and pebbles can stay in place until the end of the month, so please have a look at them if you are out walking or visiting the church.
Thank you to all who played a part, and to those who helped with the preparations for both services.
Donations were for The Royal British Legion - this organisation, like so many, has been hard hit for fundraising this year, so if you would like to make a donation, please contact Ray Harvey on 01566 781407.
