Study Course in June and July.
A new commandment I give you: Love one another
Jesus summed up the Ten Commandments into two equally important commandments: Love God with all your heart and mind and strength, and Love your neighbour as yourself.
On the night before Jesus was crucified, at the last supper, he took off his outer robe, wrapped a towel around him, and knelt before each disciple to wash their feet. When he had finished he asked them, ‘Do you see what I have done? I give you a new commandment: Love one another.’
His disciples were therefore asked to love God, to love everyone else and to love each other. What did this mean? And what does this mean for the church today? Do we live out his commandment to ‘love one another’? What steps might we need to take to do so? This is the purpose of this course, to discover what it means to ‘Love one another’ in the church and to put it into practice in our congregation.
A new commandment begins on Tuesday evenings commencing June 1st at 7pm. We don’t yet know whether we will be meeting in person or online. Please see June’s magazine for further details or look out for news in Grapevine (if you don’t receive the weekly news sheet Grapevine contact your churchwarden or Nicki Farr on [email protected]).
