Our morning worship at St John's [11am] will be different from usual - we are planning to celebrate harvest festival by looking into the heart of the environmental crisis and seeing that it is good to get our hands dirty! During the pandemic many people instinctively returned to the soil by growing their own food. With this pleasure came a new awareness of the trials of the farming community, struggling with unexpected weather conditions and unstable routes to market. We hope to celebrate local growers and resources, give thanks for what we have and see what God has to say about the challenges we face.
We shall be joined by the choir of Kidmore End School to sing a harvest version of a carol service, with well-known hymns, songs, anthems and readings telling the story; and, if the weather is good, consider bringing a picnic to eat outside afterwards.
