A Message from our Rector:

I hope that you have all had a joyful Easter with some time to relax and not get blown away by the gale force winds on Bank Holiday Monday! Over the last couple of weeks, the weather has either been exceptionally warm or freezing cold which can be the topic of much small talk.

In many ways the weather over the past couple of weeks has perhaps illustrated some of the emotions and feelings that those first disciples must have experienced. For those first witnesses of Jesus’ resurrection their grief was suddenly turned to joy. However, their excitement was short lived as they had to learn to live and minister without the security of Jesus’ regular physical presence with them which must have brought anxieties and fears as to whether they were capable of it.

Within the space of only a few days the first disciple’s lives had changed dramatically and it must have felt quite bewildering. Slowly and surely though they made sense of what had happened although it required an openness of mind and trust in the risen Lord Jesus. There is no doubt that their lives had to change after Christ’s death and resurrection and yet despite this they continued to keep loving and trust in the power of God’s love found within Jesus. It was the complete trust and love that they had for Jesus that enabled them to keep following Him and being His witnesses.

Our individual and corporate lives bring with it many challenges. Reflecting on those first disciples’ experiences is often useful as through it one can find inspiration from their experiences and relate them to our own. With them, then let us rejoice in the joy of Christ’s resurrection who encourages and sustains us in the joys and sorrows of life.

May the risen Lord Jesus bless you this week and encourage you in your everyday lives. As always if you would like chat with me then please do give me a ring.

God bless. Sarah
