A Message from our Rector
The celebrations at Christmas and New Year were rather different this year but I hope that you have had as good a time as
possible. Someone said to me that ‘Without the roll out of the vaccines 2021 would have looked really grim’. How true that it
and it is amazing how medical science and research has been able to develop one so quickly. It may not look like it now but
2021 will gradually improve and our social and personal lives will eventually become more ordinary and normal.
In the meantime, though it is important to look at the positive things that happen each day. One spiritual discipline that I have
found useful is to have a time of reflection at the end of the day. It does not have to be too soul searching but especially
during lock down it would be good to focus particularly on what has happened that has been good and that we can give thanks
I am a great lover of the TV series ‘Miranda’. Her great friend, Stevie, is always singing ‘What have you done today to make you
feel good’ which Heather Small is famous for singing. Traditionally Christianity has always emphasized ‘thinking and looking after
others’ rather than oneself. However, looking after oneself is also important to be able to care and love one another. I hope
then that during this period of social isolation you are enabling yourself to have some time for yourself and finding
something that nurtures and encourages you.
I hope and pray that you are all well and keeping safe. Please do not hesitate to give me a ring if you would like a chat or if
there is something you are concerned about. Sadly, for now all the Church services will remain through zoom until the
COVID-19 cases are more under control. If you do not have access to a computer or zoom and would like a printed copy of the
order of service, then please do let myself or Julie know in the office and we will organise that for you.
May God bless you and all good wishes.
