 urch Bawtry\nBetween 2.00 - 4.00 pm\nTo look round this beautiful 12th cen
 tury church with many original features.\nWhy not try your hand at ringing
  the church bells\, accessed via a steep staircase\, so not for the faint 
 of heart.\nExperienced Tower Captain and Bell Ringers in attendance to gui
 de you.\nThere will be children's hand bells for the younger ones.\nWith d
 isplay boards around the church.\n\nThe church\, dedicated to St Nicholas\
 , the patron saint of sailors\, welcomed many about to set sail or who cam
 e to give thanks for a safe return.\nBuilt in 1189\, the original part of 
 the church was probably half the size of the church now\, but the addition
 s\, alterations and repairs have been sensitively carried out creating the
  beautiful building you see today.\nSo\, what is there to see? The font wh
 ich will have be used to baptise so many. \nThe 15th century pillars are w
 orth a look.\nThere are wonderful large dark boards on the north wall that
  have the Ten Commandments written on them. \nA beautiful 16th century pai
 nting depicts the flight of Joseph\, Mary and Jesus to Egypt. \nThere is w
 onderful stonework in the 13th century east window\, the wonderful carved 
 moulding on the outside is said to be one of only two of its kind in the c
 ountry.\nThe15th century Lady Chapel\, with a red and gold altar\, is in m
 emory of all men who have died for peace. It features figures of St George
  and St Michael and of soldiers by the cross.\n\nWe look forward to welcom
