 ng humility and love in the most tender of gestures. Here\, He breaks the 
 bread and pours the wine\, offering Himself as the nourishment of life and
  the new covenant of grace. And here\, in the intimacy of this final meal\
 , He gives the commandment that we love one another\, as He has loved us.\
 n\nBut the night’s beauty is pierced with sorrow. In the garden\, under 
 the cloak of night\, betrayal takes root\, and the journey toward the cros
 s begins.\n\nAs we walk through the sacred acts of this evening—washing\
 , breaking\, remembering—may we open our hearts to both the challenge an
 d the comfort of this holy night. Maundy Thursday calls us to love as Chri
 st loved\, to serve as Christ served\, and to follow Him through the darkn
 ess\, toward the hope of resurrection.
