 acrifice of Jesus Christ. Good Friday marks the day when Jesus willingly l

 eveals the depth of God’s love for each of us.\n\nIt is a day of solemni
 ty and gratitude\, as we remember the cost of our redemption and the hope 
 that arises from Christ’s ultimate act of selfless love. For those explo
 ring Christianity\, Good Friday invites us to consider the power of forgiv
 eness and the promise of new life through faith in Jesus.\n\nIt is a wides
 pread custom for the consecrated bread and wine remaining from the Maundy 
 Thursday Eucharist to be given in communion. The church remains stripped o
 f all decoration. It continues bare and empty through the following day\, 
 which is a day without a liturgy: there can be no adequate way of recallin
 g the being dead of the Son of God\, other than silence and desolation.
