  journey through the season of "Ordinary Time"\, but there is nothing ordi
 nary about this period of the Churches year.  It is called this simply bec
 ause the weeks of Ordinary Time are numbered.  The Latin word 'ordinalis'\
 , refers to numbers in series\, from which we get the English word 'order'
 .\n\nThe numbered weeks represent the ordered life of the Church - a perio
 d in which we live our lives neither in feasting (as in the Christmas and 
 Easter seasons)\, nor in reflection or penance (as in the seasons of Adven
 t and Lent)\, instead the Church focuses on growth and renewal\, and looks
  forward in expectation of of the second coming of Christ.\n\nThe readings
  for today are Isaiah 5:1-7\, Philippians 3:4b-14\, and Matthew 21:33-46.\
 n\nThe hymns for today are\, "Like a mighty river flowing"\, and\, "Eterna
 l Father\, strong to save".\n\nA service booklet to accompany this service

 Faithful Departed on All Souls’ Day both celebrate this mutual belonging
 . \n\nAll Saints’ Day celebrates men and women in whose lives the Church
  as a whole has seen the grace of God powerfully at work. It is an opportu
 nity to give thanks for that grace\, and for the wonderful ends to which i
 t shapes a human life\; it is a time to be encouraged by the example of th
 e saints and to recall that sanctity may grow in the ordinary circumstance
 s\, as well as the extraordinary crises\, of human living. \n\nThe Commemo
 ration of the Faithful Departed celebrates the saints in a more local and 
 intimate key. It allows us to remember with thanksgiving before God those 
 whom we have known more directly: those who gave us life\, or who nurtured
  us in faith.\n\nThis service is open to all who would like to remember lo
 ved ones who have died. There will be an opportunity to light a candle to
