DESCRIPTION:St James’ Church\, Woodside has served the local community f
 or over 175 years and continues to do so today.\n\nWe would like to share 
 with you the opportunity to explore this Victorian Church which was consec
 rated in 1848. The Church has inevitably changed over the years but still 
 retains some original features. The architect\, Charles Walklett Burleigh 
 (1819 - 1884) designed 3 churches in the Leeds area\, but St. James’ is 
 the only one still in existence.\n\nThere are some wonderful stained-glass
  windows\, including one which is a memorial to those who died in the Firs
 t World War. There are various wood and stone carvings around the Church\,
  including a beautiful octagonal stone font.\n\nWe will have a discovery t
 rail to help guide you round the Church and a display of pictures and arte
 facts to help you find out about some of the people and events that have s
 haped it over the years. Children can hunt for our ‘Church Mice’ to he
 lp them find out more about the features of the Church. You will be able t
 o find out about some of the ways in which the Church is serving the local
  community in the present day and our plans for the future.\n\nAll are wel
 come\, including children.\nRefreshments will be available.
