COVID 19 A message from Rev Antony
COVID 19 – a Message from Rev Antony
It is with sadness that I have to send this information out but we have to abide by these new measures in order to protect the life of those within our communities.
Please see below the latest instruction from the Church of England under government instruction.
All church buildings and cathedrals are to close for public worship and private prayer. There are no exceptions and no ambiguity.
Please also find attached the latest letter from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, agreed by the diocesan bishops nationally.
Weddings: cannot now proceed. This is a very sensitive matter, but all we can do is handle couples with sensitivity and clarity.
Funerals: Funerals cannot now be conducted in our church buildings. Clergy can commend the deceased and commit the body at the crematorium or graveside directly. Local authorities are beginning now to bring in emergency measures requiring bodies to be taken directly to the crematorium – in some cases without accompaniment of mourners. Further directions may follow from local authorities on how many mourners (if any) might be allowed at the crematorium or graveside, but this is likely to be superseded very soon as the volume increases.
Please give some time to prayer each day. I will now be saying the office prayers from home and will celebrate the eucharist on your behalf at 9:00am Each Sunday Morning.
With Every Blessing,

The Church continues to be alive and active, but our buildings must close
We are seeing a huge increase in the number of people falling sick with COVID-19. We must distance ourselves from one another and prevent the spread of infection in order to save lives.
Therefore, as well as public worship being suspended, this and all church buildings in the Church of England are now closed.
Our worship of God and our care for each other continue but cannot be done in this building.
The Diocesan web site and the church of England web site gives details of how to join others online for prayer, worship, study, and community life.
The vicar of this church can be contacted in an emergency by telephoning Rev’d Antony 01748 850 349 or emailing [email protected]
Or contact one of the Churchwarden’s on 01833 621322

To protect the vulnerable amongst us, please do not leave your home except for essential trips.
