 .2 \n	\n\n\n\nThomas Hawkes was born in Paderborn\, Germany\, where he had
  his first organ lessons with Ulrich Schneider and Andreas Konrad as well 
 as his first organist role at St Christopher’s Garrison Church. He then 
 spent two years learning the organ with Jonathan Lilley at Ely Cathedral b
 efore going to the University of York where he completed his Music BA and 
 Postgraduate Diploma in 2017.\n\nFollowing this\, Thomas held posts at St 
 Edmundsbury Cathedral\, King Edward’s School\, Witley\, and St David’s
  Cathedral (where he was the acting Assistant Director of Music). He subse
 quently spent a year studying Church Music at the Hochschule für Musik in
  Freiburg im Breisgau\, where he studied organ with Matthias Maierhofer an
 d David Franke\, as well as choral conducting with Frank Markowitsch.\n\nF
 rom September 2023\, Thomas was Chapel Organist at Stowe School in Bucking
 hamshire and in July 2024 he was appointed Organist and Choir Master at Ci
 rencester Parish Church. Thomas has performed on television and radio for 
 BBC Wales and is featured on the St David’s Cathedral Choir 2022 Christm
 as CD. Thomas frequently works as a choral conductor and accompanist\, and
  has worked with ensembles including Leeds Festival Chorus\, Stowmarket Ch
 orale and the University of York Choir. Thomas is also a regular accompani
 st for the Freiburger Münster choirs. Outside of music\, he enjoys readin
 g about history and watching Doctor Who.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe organ\nThe organ
  in the Temple church was built in 1924 for the Castle of Glen Tanar\, Abe
 rdeenshire\, and installed in 1954 in the rebuilt church (following war da
 mage)\, the gift of Lord Glentanar. The organ case was designed by W. E. G
 odfrey and installed in 1966 and is modelled on drawings of the Temple’s
  Father Smith organ of 1688\, showing the crests of Inner and Middle Templ
 e. The organ was rebuilt in 2013 by Harrison and Harrison of Durham and ha
 s 66 stops over four manuals.
