DESCRIPTION:Michael Phillips\nMalvern College\n\nMichael Phillips\n- Murmu
 rations (8 short pieces for organ) \n \nThe composer writes - \nAs I’m t
he organist at a school I’m always trying to find new ways to create int
erest in the organ. My latest venture has been to create some short new pi
eces to add to my usual mix of voluntaries\, which I’m pleased to say se
ems to have provoked a little bit of curiosity from both the pupils and th
e staff. For today’s recital I’ve brought some of these pieces togethe
r to create a programme which I’ve given the working title Murmurations.
\n\nBiography\nSince 2021 Michael has been working part-time as Organist a
t Malvern College\, having previously worked there full-time as Organist a
nd Head of Keyboard and Music Technology for many years. His performing hi

and Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. He also features as a soloist on The Or
gans of Cambridge CD collection. As a composer he won the first prize at t
he Bristol International Organ Composition Competition back in 2017\, and
one of his other organ compositions recently received its premiere at the
Stiftskirche in Stuttgart in collaboration with the HMDK as part of the St
iftsmusikfest. He is also a voting member of PRS/MCPS and is a published s
ongwriter with Sony Music Publishing.\n\nThe Temple Church organ\nThe orga
n in the Temple church was built in 1924 for the Castle of Glen Tanar\, Ab
erdeenshire\, and installed in 1954 in the rebuilt church (following war d
amage)\, the gift of Lord Glentanar. The organ case was designed by W. E.
Godfrey and installed in 1966 and is modelled on drawings of the Temple’
