About Us

We are currently in interregnum since the departure of Revd Camilla Campling-Denton. Each of the three parish churches is holding one Holy Communion service a month with a visiting priest and there is also a Family Servie of the Word on the first Sunday led by Lay Worship Leader, Ruth Abbey. at Melsonby. Please see our benefice website to be sure of finding details of any occasional services that may be held at East Layton.

East Layton is within the Stanwick Group of Churches Benefice. Please click on 'More Information' in the menu to the left to see the rest of the benefice.

This church is a little jewel of a building supposedly to a design based on Worcester cathedral. It has some wonderful stone carvings and woodwork, some of it by 'Mousey' Thompson of Kilburn. The church has a ring of four bells but there is no active band to ring them.

East Layton is a private chapel operated as a chapel of ease within the parish of Forcett. As part of the joint benefice of the Stanwick Group of Churches, it may sometimes be necessary to divert from the normal rotation of services. Please check our benefice web-site and look on this month's Calendar page to confirm date, time and venue of services. Please see the benefice website for more information.

East Layton recently acquired a superior electronic, church style, organ the gift of the family of the late John Frost of Melsonby and so looks forward to more music within its services.
