How to do a nine lessons and carols event on Christmas Eve under Covid 19 restrictions (then Tier 3) was the question.
And the PCC's answer was to put out a call for singers and musicians. A small choir (10) and a miniscule band (6) was formed from the volunteers. No pressure, this was to be the first service in St Michael's for our newly installed vicar, Rev'd Andy. That added some sparkle to the evening's events.
The performance was a mix of familar carols (sung and instrumental) alongside the usual lessons and other pieces of prose and poetry. This "old fashioned/ traditional" evening of village entertainment was very much enjoyed by the socially distanced congregation.
Those unable to get hold of the strictly limited tickets are now able to enjoy a youtube video at https://youtu.be/hFaQtpkqIW8 thanks to a volunteer sound engineer/ film crew.
Some things remained constant - our reverse advent appeal was once again generously supported enabling a boot full of goodies to be taken to the YMCA on Boxing Day. So thank you to the performers, the congregation and the local community for your support. Wishing you a Happy New Year!
