DESCRIPTION:The Birthday Bell\nOn Sunday 7th September the 400th Anniversa
 ry of number 5 bell was celebrated at All Saint’s Church.\nDuring the se
 rvice the bell was rung for the congregation to hear and then Rose Pembert
 on\, tower captain\, outlined the history of the bell. It was cast in 1625
  by Robert or Richard Purdue of Bristol. The bell was returned to Loughbor
 ough to have a crack repaired following restoration work by John Taylors i
 n 1963. It weighs 300kg (47.24 stones) and has a diameter of 77.47 centime
 ters  (2 feet 6.5 inches). The restoration work had been funded for bells 
 4\,5 and 6\, the only ones existing at the time\, by 6th Earl of Harrowby.
 \nIn the afternoon a quarter peal of 50 minutes continuous ringing added t
 o the celebrations.\nThe enthusiastic ringers of Sandon Church\, the young
 est being 8\, hope to be ringing this bell for many years to come.
