DESCRIPTION:Following this years Heritage Open Days theme of 'Everyday His
 tories' we have been looking at the people who have shaped this church but
  being over 900 years old\, St Chad's has... too many to mention! But come
  along to one of our open days to learn more about the person who establis
 hed the church\, those who built it and others who have simply attended it
  for generations ensuring it is still here today nearly 900 years after it
 s doors were first opened. Some names\, like the founder of the church are
  written in stone\, others are only known by the skilled stone work they c
 reated. Some who lived centuries ago are famous\, like Izaac Walton author
  of "The Compleat Angler" in the C17th\, the well known Victorian Architec
 t Sir George Gilbert Scott who drew the plans for the restoration of the c
 hurch \,or the more locally recognised Henry Turkington\, a generous benef
 actor in the early 20th century. Others are simply known through our Paris
 h Records but lived ordinary lives in the parish\, working in local trades
  and attending the church for worship.\nAs for its name - you will also be
  able to find out about the life of St Chad himself. \n\nOpening times: \n

 ut please be aware that St Chad's is a living church with regular services
 . The times listed as open are around the times of services so please be a
 ware that tours and the exhibitions will not be available during services.
 \nPlease also note that there are three steps to get into the building and
  unfortunately the only ramp available has to be put in place as required.
  It is heavy\, wide and steep without handrails. It will be put in place a
