Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
This story comes at the end of Jesus' ministry, between Palm Sunday and Easter weekend. The Pharisees now feel very threatened by Jesus' teachings and are planning how to stop Him - violently if necessary.
They try and catch Jesus out with a trick question, that whichever way He answers He will be in trouble. But Jesus is up to that!!
This is an important lesson that our young people should know as it has entered our language - taking to their friends as they grow up, they need to know where it is from, what were the circumstances and understand how and why the Pharisees set a trap for Jesus. And of course, how Jesus got out of the trap and what lesson He was trying to give. It is as relevant today as it was then.
