Our Hall began to reopen on 21 September. In preparation for re-opening we undertook extensive research and produced guidance which is available on request. All the clubs know of the requirements to maintain safety and a special QR code is on display if you have the NHS App
Unfortunately Lockdown 2 has meant we have to close again but we are using the forced closure to completely redecorate and improve our main hall as well as installing new doors to make access easier. But we are hopeful that when we reopen early January. Here are some examples of the clubs and groups who are regulars:-
Book and Puzzle Swap. Between 10:30 and 12 on the 1st and 3rd Saturday morning of each month there is a Community Book and Puzzle Swap at the Donnington Parish Hall. There is no charge for this but donations helps the group pay for the use of the Hall and to purchase new books. Contacts are Maggie 01243 698208 or Judith 01243 789979. These marvellous people also run a Doorstep Drop for those unable to get out - phone Maggie on the Friday before Swap Day.
Donnington Short Mat Bowls. The bowls have been in the Hall for 30 years and in ‘normal times’ and ‘normally’ bowl Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoon 2-4.30pm plus Wednesday and Friday evening 7-9.30pm.
Unfortunately these are not ‘normal times’ and even though the club holds a certificate 143 from English Short Mat Bowls Association to confirm that it has completed all the required COVID Safe Assessments and has been granted 'Covid Safe Club' status it still means that there is a cap on players for the moment. When restrictions get lifted and the club is back to 'normal' they would love you to think about trying bowls. For further information please contact Allan Banham 01243 783434 or mail [email protected] for up to date information.
Community Keep Fit. Every Thursday 9.30-10.15am the class is aimed at people over 50 but any age group is welcome. Run by Becky who is a YMCA/rRSA qualified ‘exercise to music’ instructor who's been in the industry for 26 years. Her emphasis is on enjoying the class and having fun as well as getting stronger and fitter. Classes are aerobic style and low impact class to 60s/70s music with the aim of getting the heart rate up but at our own fitness levels. Mats and hand-weights are provided and the cost is £5 per class, but if paid upfront it works out as £4 per class. Any questions please call 07768642481 (or leave a text message) or email [email protected]
