What are we, as Christians, called to do here in our little corner of God's kingdom at this desperate time ?
Our church had to close for the duration of the pandemic, but we want to stay as connected as possible. Each Sunday we will be posting a ‘virtual’ church service on this website including the readings for the day, prayers of intercessions, links to hymns and a short reflection video.
We also offer an on line "Zoom" service each Sunday at 10a.m. To sign up you 1) need to get the Zoom service set up on your machine and open an account - it's free 2) register once as an attendee by 8p.m. on Saturday at the latest by emailing [email protected] and 3) clicking just before 10 a.m. on the link that will be sent to you.
We hold a 30 minute morning prayer Zoom service at 8 a.m. on Wednesday and Friday. Let [email protected] know if you want to join.
And on Wednesdays at 6:30 we have a Zoom gathering to share thoughts and prayers and see friendly faces. Details as above for other Zoom calls - email by 5pm Wednesday to get invite.
Loving our neighbours
We are organising community help:-
Each Saturday between 10am and 12pm are in the Parish Hall car park to take donations for the Chichester Foodbank whose website carries details of what is most needed. Over 500 KGs of food were donated in the first 6 weeks
Nearly 50 volunteers have stepped forward to offer shopping, dog walking, sourcing a book, giving someone in isolation a phone call.
We want to particularly help the elderly, those who are most vulnerable or concerned and key workers whose days are full whilst others are 'time rich'. But we meet people who don’t want to ask; it can be tough for some people to ask. We ask that you allow us to help and let us let us know what your needs are, so let us know by email or phone ([email protected] or 01243 788321). We are your neighbours and you matter to us.
Keeping people informed
We leaflet the whole parish each month. The most recent leaflet can be downloaded from below
We keep this website up to date
We have a facebook page St George's Donnington with news and suggestions on things like getting local deliveries if housebound.
You can get in touch by emailing [email protected] or telephoning the vicarage on 01243 788321. Lines may be busy, but keep trying or leave a message.
