DESCRIPTION:Candlemas marks the mid-point between Christmas and Easter\, a
nd it is hopefully the beginning of the end of winter. We shall hear the s
tory of the elderly Simeon and Anna\, who had faithfully waited all their
lives for the Messiah to be revealed to them. If you come - and I hope you
will - please have a look at the depiction of Simeon and Anna in the lady
chapel window\, manufactured by the studio of Charles Eamer Kempe. A whea
 tsheaf\, Kempe's maker's mark\, is included in the window\, but a black to
wer is superimposed over it\, signifying that Kempe had died by the time o
f the commission and the business had passed into the ownership of his dis
 tant cousin\, Walter Tower
