Latest news from the Parish of Goring by Sea. 25th June 2020.

Jo Holgate R.I.P.

Miss Josephine (“Jo”) Holgate MVO died peacefully on Saturday 20th June, aged 88. Jo was a

former Churchwarden and will be fondly remembered by many in the Parish. There is going to be a

private funeral on Wednesday 8th July at Worthing Crematorium; if any one would like an Order of

Return to worship

You will have read and heard that restrictions are lifting somewhat from the 4th July. We await

further guidance from the Diocese but it will be permissible to hold services in church. There will

still be restriction, for example ‘no singing’ and the need to maintain social distancing etc. Fr. Keith

is on leave this week but will be meeting with the Wardens early next week to consider Diocesan

advice, discuss our situation in the Parish and most importantly to pray for guidance about our next


Next week the churches remain closed at least until the 4th July. As we said in last week’s

newsletter it was always our plan to keep the closures under review and this now affords us the

opportunity to consider both the opening of the churches and return to worship. The preparation for

the online All Age Worship on Sunday 5th July is well underway and it is likely this service will still

be streamed at 10.00 a.m. Further details will be in next week’s newsletter and on Facebook and

the Parish Website. So as it stands at present:-

Thursday Morning Prayer will be held on Thursday at 10.00am via Zoom.

On Sunday the 5th July we will be streaming our Family Service at 10.00 am

Further details about the Eucharist normally streamed at 11.00 am will be given in next week’s

newsletter, on Facebook and the Parish Website.
